ABOUT

Amaya “AJ” Rose is an interdisciplinary artist out of Richmond, Virginia. She is a self-taught storyboard artist, visual artist, music producer, and entertainment journalist.

Amaya graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Studies with a minor in Film Studies from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia. Previously studying euphonium for wind band, she developed a serious passion for jazz and film in 2020. She culminated her love of the arts in a debut film-themed art installation and research presentation for CNU’s 2023 Paideia Conference at Mary M. Torggler Fine Arts Center in Newport News, VA. She since turned her focus to story work, taking a nontraditional path to knowledge of comic storytelling and standard storyboard practices.

Right now, Amaya works as an A1 at Virginia Repertory Theater’s November Theater, after wrapping on her latest project, EP haziedtown, which is currently available across all listening platforms. Meanwhile, she’s developing a memoir, and she continues self-study in animation (aka watching cartoons), and in film theory and production.
